# Introduction

The Visual Language Team of the National Center for Child Traumatic Stress has created this guide to assist NCTSN partners in the design and development of print, interactive, video and web projects. While the recommendations that follow are meant to serve as general guidelines, every effort should be made by producers, editors, art directors, writers, graphic designers, and project managers to incorporate these standards into their respective projects. As the NCTSN continues to consistently build its identity, it is important that every effort be made to adhere to these standards. Therefore, the National Center’s goal is to help numerous and disparate production partners create a spectrum of communication products that all clearly convey the established brand identity of the NCTSN.

As a publicly funded initiative, the NCTSN strives to create cost-effective communication tools that use NCTSN funds responsibly and efficiently. **To this end, project managers should contact the Product Development Team by emailing** [**PDev@nctsn.org**](mailto:pdev@nctsn.org) **at the start of every project to inquire about pre-existing design elements available for use in all NCTSN projects.**
